I recently moved out of state and used Hall Lane/North American. In New York, the movers themselves did a wonderful job. However, when I signed the paperwork which I sent over days earlier requesting the additional insurance, the driver on the day of the move insisted I did not need to spend the additional money for insurance as he was driving the truck and would oversee the entire process. Although, I was having a little reservation, I went ahead and took the basic insurance since most of my items I packed myself. The issue came when the movers arrived at my new residence. The two movers who were hired "for the day" were unprofessional and were lacking in experience. Not only did they damaged walls in my brand new home, they shifted items in the truck, which the driver told them not to do, and I watched as my Corian table rolled off of the truck and broke into twenty pieces. In my opinion the driver had no way of knowing the movers hired by this company would be so incompetent. This is where I find fault with Hall Lane. I completely understand that items shift in transit, however, I did not anticipate or expect such blatant incompetence and recklessness. The response from Hall Lane and North American Van Lines were slow and unacceptable. They never even sent anyone to look at the table in order to repair it. I received $42.00 as a replacement for my table. Laughable.
In response to Hall Lane: (1) The driver did not insist that I shouldn't take the insurance, he insisted/passionately suggested that I didn't need it. And, I believe I wouldn't have needed the additional insurance if Hall Lane was diligent in their hiring of outside contractors at the destination point; (2) The table is capable of being repaired by a professional in the field. Hall Lane/North American never sent a service person to look at the table and make a determination because it was less expensive to send a $42.00 check. However, if I went ahead and kept with the original signed document with the additional insurance, I am pretty sure Hall Lane/North American would have argued it was repairable and not reimbursed for the value of the table (as indicated in other reviews). Clearly, customer service and care is not as important as financial gains; And (3) I am sorry to hear Ms. Garvey was in the hospital for two weeks. I hope she is feeling better. Again, this speaks to my prior comment about customer service. I was never notified about this even though I reached out several times. It is not acceptable or responsible for an organization to not be accountable for inquiries during someone's prolonged absence.
We have nothing but great things to say about Hall lane movers. From the beginning we felt very confident that the move would be taken care of with efficiency and accuracy. Alex came to do the estimate and was experienced and knowledgeable with the process. Our driver called us in advance to let us know when he would be there to pick up our belongings. The crew that did the moving was hardworking and very respectful of our things. They also were so pleasant to work with. The driver then was at the other end on the day he said he would with another great crew. The process was painless. We highly recommend this company.
I will recommend them to everyone I know looking for a moving company.
What a great experience moving with Hall Lane! The guys were so nice and they enjoy what they do. They were prompt and really fast. Moving can be a very stressful experience but Hall Lane made it as enjoyable as possible.
The movers, Jeff, Don and Juan, were outstanding and very professional throughout the move! I had full confidence in their abilities and everything was delivered safe and not a thing was broken. I’d absolutely use them again for our next move.
Everyone was great! I have moved several times and this was by far the best moving experience ever. From Anthony, Rachel , Louis and everyone on the team , they were so helpful and accommodating. They changed dates, picked up and sent me things I forgot to have packed. Everything arrived happy and healthy. Five stars for Hall Lane! If I ever move I will use Hall Lane again and will certainly recommend them! Extremely proffessional! Tara King
